Welcome to the exhibition ENTER at The Cowgirl Gallery.
Magda Lundberg (b. 1990, Skåne) is a visual artist and comic creator, based in Malmö. Her renowned series Fåglar has captivated audiences across the country and is published weekly in the Swedish daily papers Dagens Nyheter and Sydsvenskan. In addition to her clever and charming strips, Magda’s artistic expression extends beyond comics, into abstract painting, where she explores the concrete and intangible aspects of creation.
In the exhibition ”Enter” at The Cowgirl Gallery, Magda Lundberg presents a brand new collection of paintings, made this year, 2023. With a blend of planning and spontaneity, Magda combines unexpected palettes where blocks of color shift between respect for boundaries and fluid overlap. Her current works are minimalistic, yet playful and her sense for balance and composition can be reminiscent of Rothko and Malevich. This graphic expression marks a new visual direction in her artistry. From her previously soft, cloud-like and airy paintings, she now works with sharp and distinct objects with a well-motivated and curated color palette.
